Planning your transfer?

A private transfer from Izmir Airport (ADB) takes you door to door across the Aegean coast, from Izmir city in around 25 minutes and Selcuk, the gateway to Ephesus, in about 45, to Kusadasi in around an hour and Cesme roughly the same to the west.

Suntransfers gives you a private vehicle for your whole group, from standard cars to minibuses and coaches for larger parties, with a driver waiting. Book online in advance, we track your flight and adjust your transfer if it is delayed, and cancel for free up to 48 hours before pick-up.

Travelling from Izmir Airport

Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport sits in Gaziemir, about 18 km south of Izmir city, which makes it one of the most centrally located airports in Turkey and the main gateway to the Aegean.

The airport is well placed for both the city and the coast. With a private airport transfer the price is agreed before you travel, so traffic through Izmir or a longer route will not change what you pay.

Izmir’s own seafront, with Konak Square, the clock tower and the Kordon promenade, sits about 25 minutes away, with the lively Alsancak district close by. To the south, Selcuk and the ruins of Ephesus are around 45 minutes to an hour, and the beach resort of Kusadasi a little beyond. To the west, the Cesme peninsula, with the windsurfing town of Alacati, is around an hour to an hour and a quarter.

Heading further? Pergamon at Bergama lies to the north, and the travertine terraces of Pamukkale are a longer inland drive. A private driver takes the most efficient route for the fixed price you booked.

FAQs

What travellers ask before heading to Izmir Airport.

How far is Izmir Airport from the city centre?

Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport is around 18 km from Izmir city centre, in the district of Gaziemir. By road the journey usually takes about 25 to 30 minutes in normal traffic. The seafront, with Konak Square, the clock tower and the Kordon promenade, is one of the closest of any major Turkish airport to its city.

Can I get a transfer to Kusadasi, Cesme or Selcuk?

Yes. These are among the most popular Aegean destinations reached from Izmir Airport. Selcuk, the gateway to Ephesus, is around 45 minutes to an hour south, Kusadasi a little beyond at about an hour, and Cesme to the west around an hour to an hour and a quarter. Private transfers run directly to each, taking you straight to your hotel.

How early should I arrive at Izmir Airport?

For departures, aim to be at Izmir airport 2 hours before a short-haul flight and 3 for long-haul, with a buffer in summer when check-in and security get busy. If we are driving you to the airport, we factor that into your pickup time so you have a comfortable buffer before your flight.

How far is Ephesus from Izmir Airport?

Ephesus is around 60 to 65 km from Izmir Airport, and a private transfer typically takes about an hour, taking you straight from arrivals to the site entrance with no stops. This is the fastest option, since the train to nearby Selçuk runs only a handful of times a day and still leaves you a taxi or 30-minute walk from the entrance. A taxi covers the same route at a similar speed, but without a fixed price agreed in advance.

How far is Kusadasi from Izmir airport?

Kusadasi is around 65 to 80 km from Izmir Airport, and a private transfer typically takes 60 to 75 minutes depending on traffic and your exact hotel. This is considerably faster than public transport, since there's no direct bus and the journey can take over two hours with the connection. A private transfer also means the driver adjusts to your flight's arrival time, so there's no risk of missing a scheduled shuttle if your flight is delayed.

How do you get from Izmir airport to Cesme?

The most direct way to reach Cesme from Izmir Airport is a private transfer, covering the roughly 90 to 95 km route in about 60 to 75 minutes and taking you straight to your hotel without stops. Public transport is possible but involves changes, since there's no direct bus line between the airport and Cesme, so it can take upwards of two to three hours depending on connections.

Are taxis readily available at Izmir Airport?

Izmir Airport has a taxi rank outside the arrivals area, with the city's yellow taxis. Waiting times and queues can be unpredictable, especially during the busy summer arrivals window. Larger groups often wait longer for taxis with enough seats and luggage space, and child seats or room for windsurf gear are not guaranteed.
