Travelling from Lanzarote Airport
Lanzarote Airport «César Manrique» sits on the east coast between Playa Honda and Puerto del Carmen, just west of the capital Arrecife. Most journeys run on the LZ-2 motorway, the island’s main artery.
The closest resort is Puerto del Carmen, the island’s largest, at around 10 to 15 minutes. Arrecife itself is about 10 minutes, and Costa Teguise to the north east is roughly 15 to 20 minutes.
Heading south, the LZ-2 runs down to Playa Blanca at the island’s southern tip in about 30 minutes, close to the ferries across to Fuerteventura and the marina at Puerto Calero on the way.
Lanzarote’s landscape is shaped by the artist César Manrique and its volcanoes, from Timanfaya National Park to the Cueva de los Verdes and the wine region of La Geria. With a fixed price, the cost is exactly what you booked, however long the journey is to any corner of this beautiful island.

FAQs
What travellers ask before heading to Lanzarote Airport.
How far is Lanzarote Airport from Arrecife?
Lanzarote Airport is around 6 km from Arrecife, the island's capital, on the east coast. By road the journey usually takes about 10 minutes. The airport is also very close to the main resort of Puerto del Carmen, roughly 10 km to the south, making both a short drive from arrivals.
How much is a taxi from Lanzarote Airport to Puerto del Carmen?
A taxi from Lanzarote Airport to Puerto del Carmen can cost €20 or more, depending on traffic, luggage load, and other additional fees. By contrast, a private transfer has one fixed price agreed in advance, with your pickup time rescheduled if your flight is delayed. You're met at arrivals with a name board and driven straight to your accommodation, so there is no need to queue at the taxi rank or negotiate a fare on arrival.
How far is Playa Blanca from Lanzarote Airport?
Playa Blanca, at the southern tip of the island, is around 35 km from the airport. By road it is a 30 to 40 minute drive south on the LZ-2. Playa Blanca is also the port for ferries across to Corralejo in Fuerteventura, so it is a common base for travellers combining the two islands.
Are taxis readily available at Lanzarote Airport?
Lanzarote Airport has official taxi ranks outside both terminals on the ground floor. Waiting times can be unpredictable when several flights land together in summer, and larger groups often wait longer for a taxi with enough seats and luggage space. Child seats and room for dive or surf gear are not guaranteed.
What types of Lanzarote transfers are available?
Suntransfers offers a range of Lanzarote transfer options to suit different group sizes and budgets. Affordable shared shuttles are ideal if you don't mind sharing with other passengers and want the lowest fare. For more privacy, private transfers seat up to 4 passengers, while minivans accommodate groups of up to 6. You can also add extras such as child seats or sports equipment when booking, so the vehicle is properly set up for your needs.
Can I get a transfer to resorts in Puerto del Carmen, Costa Teguise or Playa Blanca?
Yes. These are the three main resorts reached from Lanzarote Airport. Puerto del Carmen is closest at around 10 to 15 minutes, Costa Teguise is roughly 15 to 20 minutes to the north east, and Playa Blanca sits at the southern tip at about 30 to 40 minutes. Private transfers run directly to each, taking you straight to your hotel or villa.
How early should I arrive at Lanzarote Airport?
For departures, aim for 2 hours before a short-haul flight and 3 for long-haul, and add a buffer in summer when check-in and security get busy. If we are driving you to the airport, we factor that into your pickup time so you have a comfortable buffer before your flight.
