Travelling from Larnaca Airport

Larnaca Airport is the main gateway to Cyprus and the closest to the island’s eastern resorts, sitting on the south coast just outside Larnaca city.

Most journeys run on Cyprus’s motorway network, which is toll-free, so with a private airport transfer the price is agreed before you travel and there are no toll surcharges to add on. The A3 heads east to Ayia Napa and Protaras, while the A5 runs west towards Limassol and the A2 north to Nicosia.

Larnaca’s own seafront, with the Finikoudes promenade and the Church of Saint Lazarus, sits about 15 minutes away. The eastern resorts spread along the coast: Ayia Napa around 45 minutes and Protaras closer to 50. Limassol and the capital Nicosia sit around 45 to 60 minutes in their own directions.

Heading further? Paphos in the far southwest is around an hour and a half. Larnaca also serves the wine villages of the Troodos foothills and the mosaics of the archaeological sites inland.

FAQs

What travellers ask before heading to Larnaca Airport.

How far is Larnaca Airport from the city centre?

Larnaca Airport is around 8 to 9 km from Larnaca city centre. By road the journey usually takes about 15 minutes in normal traffic. Larnaca's seafront, with the Finikoudes promenade and the Church of Saint Lazarus, is compact and walkable once you arrive, and the airport is one of the closest to its city on the island.

Can I get a transfer to Ayia Napa, Protaras or Limassol?

Yes. These are among the most popular resorts reached from Larnaca Airport. Ayia Napa is around 45 minutes east and Protaras closer to 50, while Limassol is around 1 hour west. Private transfers run directly to each, taking you straight to your hotel or villa.

How early should I arrive at Larnaca Airport?

For departures from Larnaca Airport, aim to be there 2 hours before a short-haul flight and 3 for long-haul, with a buffer in summer when check-in and security get busy. If we are driving you to the airport, we factor that into your pickup time so you have a comfortable buffer before your flight.

How much is a taxi from Larnaca Airport to Ayia Napa?

A metered taxi from Larnaca Airport to Ayia Napa can cost around €80 or more depending on your exact drop-off, time of day, traffic, and luggage. Ayia Napa is about 58 km away, a drive of roughly 45 minutes on the A3. By contrast, a private transfer has one fixed price, with your pickup rescheduled in case of delays.

How many terminals are at Larnaca airport?

Larnaca Airport has just one passenger terminal, which handles all scheduled and charter flights. Since everyone comes through the same building, with arrivals on the ground floor, finding your way to the meeting point is straightforward. Depending on the transfer you've booked, whether a shared shuttle, private transfer or minivan, we'll confirm the exact pickup point on your booking voucher.

How far is Protaras from Larnaca Airport?

Protaras is around 66 km from Larnaca Airport, a drive of about 50 minutes east on the A3. It is best known for the sheltered sands of Fig Tree Bay and sits just north of the Cape Greco headland, a short hop from neighbouring Ayia Napa.

Are taxis readily available at Larnaca Airport?

Larnaca Airport has a taxi rank directly outside the arrivals hall. Waiting times and queues can be unpredictable, especially during the busy summer arrivals window. Larger groups often wait longer for taxis with enough seats and luggage space, and child seats or room for diving equipment are not guaranteed.
