Planning your transfer?

A private transfer from Alicante-Elche Airport (ALC) takes you door to door across the Costa Blanca, from Alicante city in around 15 minutes to the resorts north and south along the coast. Suntransfers gives you a private vehicle for your whole group, from standard cars to minibuses and coaches for larger parties, with a driver waiting. Book online in advance, we track your flight and adjust your transfer if it is delayed, and cancel for free up to 48 hours before pick-up.

Travelling from Alicante-Elche Airport

Alicante-Elche Airport is about 12km southwest of Alicante, with a single terminal handling all flights. The A-70 ring road links the airport to the coast in both directions: the AP-7 toll motorway heads north towards Benidorm and the northern Costa Blanca, while the A-7 and N-332 run south towards Torrevieja.

The closest destination is Alicante city, about 20 minutes away, with Santa Pola and Elche a similar short hop. Heading south, Torrevieja is around 40 minutes along the coast, past the salt flats of the southern Costa Blanca.

Heading north, Benidorm is about 50 minutes on the AP-7, with Calpe, Altea and Jávea further along the coast, closer to an hour or more depending on your resort. The coast roads can slow at summer weekends, but a fixed price means traffic never changes what you pay.

The Costa Blanca runs a long way in both directions from the airport, from the high-rise beaches of Benidorm to the quieter coves further north, so it is worth knowing which stretch of coast your hotel sits on.

FAQs

What travellers ask before travelling to Alicante.

Pre-booked transfer or taxi from Alicante Airport: which should I choose?

For most travellers, a pre-booked transfer is the simpler choice. Taxis are available outside arrivals, but waiting times vary: queues build up when several flights land at once, and fewer taxis wait during quieter periods. A transfer is booked in advance, so your driver is waiting and the price is fixed with no unexpected extras.

How much does a private transfer from Alicante Airport cost?

The cost of a private transfer from Alicante Airport depends on the type of service, whether it is a private car or shared shuttle, the distance, and the number of passengers. Short trips like Alicante city are lower, while longer coastal routes to Benidorm or Torrevieja cost more. In all cases the full price is confirmed before booking, with no hidden fees or surprise charges.

Is public transport a good option from Alicante Airport?

Alicante Airport has bus connections to Alicante city, but reaching coastal towns usually requires additional transfers, longer travel times, and reliance on timetables. This can be less convenient with luggage, late arrivals, or young children, and when you want a direct journey to your accommodation, a private transfer is the simpler option.

How far is Benidorm from Alicante Airport?

Benidorm is around 45 km from Alicante Airport. Transfers usually take the AP-7 or A-70 motorways, with the N-332 coastal road as an alternative. The journey takes between 40 and 50 minutes, depending on traffic and time of day, and travel times can increase during summer weekends and peak holiday periods.

Can I get a transfer to coastal towns like Calpe or Torrevieja?

Yes. Airport transfers are available to popular destinations along the Costa Blanca, including Benidorm, Calpe, Altea and Torrevieja. These routes are common but often involve longer travel times. If you are heading to golf resorts near Orihuela Costa or Torrevieja, choosing a minivan gives extra space for clubs and equipment.

What is the best way to travel from Alicante Airport?

To go to Alicante city, public transport can work well. But if you are heading to places like Benidorm, Torrevieja, or other coastal towns, it often takes more time and planning. Many travellers choose a private transfer so they can go straight to their accommodation without connections or extra steps.

Is Alicante Airport busy at night?

Yes. Alicante receives a high number of evening and late-night flights, especially from the UK and Northern Europe. During these hours, arrivals can be busy while transport options on the spot are more limited.

How early should I leave for the airport on departure?

When leaving for the airport, plan your journey so you arrive at least 2 hours before short-haul flights and 3 hours before long-haul. If you're travelling from coastal areas like Benidorm, set off early enough to allow for traffic on top of that, especially in peak season.
