Planning your transfer?

Travelling from Fuerteventura Airport

Fuerteventura Airport sits at El Matorral on the east coast, on the east coast between Puerto del Rosario and Caleta de Fuste. Most journeys run on the FV-2, the main road along the island’s east coast, linking Puerto del Rosario, the airport and Caleta de Fuste before continuing south.

The closest destinations are Caleta de Fuste and Puerto del Rosario, both around 10 minutes away. Heading north, the route runs up to Puerto del Rosario and joins the FV-1 to reach Corralejo and its sand dunes in about 35 to 45 minutes.

Heading south, the FV-2 runs down the east coast past the Salinas del Carmen salt flats towards Costa Calma at around an hour, and Morro Jable and Jandía at the island’s southern tip, closer to an hour and a quarter.

Fuerteventura is one of the best islands in the Canaries for beaches and watersports, from the dunes at Corralejo to the wind and kite spots at Sotavento, so a transfer with room for boards and gear is worth planning for. And with a fixed price, the drive south never changes what you pay.

FAQs

What travellers ask before heading to Fuerteventura Airport.

How far is Fuerteventura Airport from Puerto del Rosario?

Fuerteventura Airport sits at El Matorral, around 7 to 10 km from the capital Puerto del Rosario. By road the journey usually takes about 10 minutes. The airport is roughly halfway between the capital and the resort of Caleta de Fuste, so both of the island's closest destinations are only a short drive away.

How much is a taxi from Fuerteventura Airport to Corralejo?

A metered taxi from Fuerteventura Airport to Corralejo can cost €60 or more, depending on your exact drop-off, time of day, traffic, and luggage. By contrast, a private transfer has one fixed price regardless of these factors, with your pickup rescheduled in case of delays.

How far is Morro Jable from Fuerteventura Airport?

Morro Jable, at the southern tip of Fuerteventura, is around 85 to 90 km from the airport, one of the longest transfers on the island. By road it is roughly an hour and a quarter on the FV-2, passing Costa Calma on the way. Jandía's beaches sit just beyond Morro Jable, a short distance further along the coast.

Are taxis readily available at Fuerteventura Airport?

Fuerteventura Airport has an official taxi rank outside the terminal. Waiting times can be unpredictable when several flights land together in summer, and larger groups often wait longer for a taxi with enough seats and luggage space. Room for surfboards or windsurf gear is not guaranteed, so many travellers pre-book.

How do I get from Fuerteventura Airport to a hotel?

The easiest way to reach your hotel from Fuerteventura Airport is a private transfer, which takes you directly to your accommodation anywhere on the island, whether that's Corralejo in the north, Costa Calma in the south, or one of the resorts along the Jandía peninsula. You're met at arrivals with a name board and driven straight there, with no changes or waiting around.

Can I get a transfer to resorts in Corralejo, Costa Calma or Jandía?

Yes. These are among the most popular Fuerteventura destinations reached from the airport. Corralejo lies to the north at around 35 to 45 minutes, while Costa Calma and Jandía sit to the south at roughly an hour to an hour and a quarter. Fuerteventura is a major watersports island, so for boards or extra luggage a minivan adds space. Private transfers run directly to each.

How early should I arrive at Fuerteventura Airport?

Plan to arrive at Fuerteventura Airport at least 2 hours before short-haul flights and 3 before long-haul. If you are staying in Morro Jable or Jandía in the south, the drive back up the FV-2 is over an hour, so your pickup will be earlier than you might expect. If we're driving you to the airport, we calculate that into your pickup time.
